With a year of success under our belts and a healthy order book, with clients including Pasta Foods, PH Winterton and Weetabix, the year is already looking really promising for Christy Turner.
Catching up with Managing Director, Ian Butcher, now in his second year at the helm, and celebrating 10 years at the company, he tells us “We’ve never been so busy”. In a climate of supply challenges, feeding a growing order book has been something of a work of art, with clever and intuitive buying and stocking decisions, thanks in no small part to Jeff Cook, Spares and Logistics Manager and Darren Ryder who, having learnt the ropes alongside veteran, Jeff, is now ready to take more responsibility in balancing spares and logistics demands, leaving Jeff to get out into the field and work with our clients on site.

“Building a mill to our exacting engineering standards is not a quick process” Ian explains. “A mill typically takes 16-18 weeks to build, and we are usually up against a tight deadline” he continues.
With electronics parts providing the greatest supply challenge, some canny buying decisions have been instrumental in keeping a good flow of production.
“Brexit has provided further challenges with the necessity to replace all EU CE markings to the UK equivalent and the associated documentation reviews that go alongside such a shift in certification” Ian explains. All the manuals have been updated and the company is back to full UK compliancy, all grist to the mill for a company that has been manufacturing in Great Britain for 138 years.
Looking to the future, with a full complement of staff, including a new machinist, ensuring the flexibility of in-house engineering and the tight scheduling it enables, Christy Turner are ready for a bright 2023 and beyond. Call or mail us to discuss you milling requirements.
