Richard joins the Christy Turner family with a spares and purchasing pedigree that goes back for some years. Working with local engineering giants, such as Woods of Colchester, Ransomes and Helios, adding his considerable skill and experience to the Christy Turner Spares and Procurement operation was a natural progression for Richard.

Managing a steady stream of spares demands, and often on very tight deadlines has been something of a balancing act for Spares and Purchasing Manager, Jeff Cooke, and the constant monitoring of stock levels and anticipation of demand are all essential to keeping Christy Turner customers’ rolling mills, flaking mills, hammer mills and pulverizers working every day with no room for down time.

With an increase in workload, Ian Butcher, Christy Turner MD, made the decision to expand the department and sought about finding the right experienced individual to work alongside Jeff and take up some of the responsibility to keep our clients servicing and spares schedules precisely on target. Richard comes to the Ipswich office with a meticulous eye for detail, respect for the deadlines that every one of our customers expect and a talent for timely procurement and supplier negotiation. “I am firm believer in old fashioned, traditional service values” says Richard.

With a catalogue of spares as diverse as our customer base constantly sourcing Christy Turner approved parts: Richard explains “with parts ranging from £16k to 39p in value, there’s quite a volume of inventory to keep up with”

Richard will be liaising with Jeff every day, as well as working with the Test Centre Team and the mechanics, not to mention the client base that varies from engineer to farmer to food processing expert fields. Richard goes on to explain “new technologies and international demand mean advances into the recycling markets, where we have made impact with our pulverizing and grinding systems”

Like our MD, Richard is a keen cub and scout leader in his old home town of Colchester. His engineering talents lead him to an interest in car mechanics, particularly tinkering with vintage minis. Also, Richard has a talent for ‘rescuing’ neglected aquatic projects such as fish tanks and aquaria, taking on challenging projects and transforming them into fresh and vibrant homes for domestic fish.

We welcome Richard on to our growing team and look forward to introducing you to him.
